The Soberania National Park in Panama is home to an extraordinary variety of birds and a surprising number of other animals. We stayed at the famous Canopy Tower, which was a US radar station and is now a hotel for birdwatchers. This place almost guarantees views of various toucans, trogons, motmots, jacamars, puffbirds, woodcreepers, manakins and tanagers. In November there is the mass migration of raptors going south. A visit here, apart from being overwhelmingly exciting, has the additional benefits of being an accessible rain forest experience.
