Gambia

In December 2015 My wife and I joined a small Naturetrek bird watching group heading for The Gambia in West Africa. We were based at the Mandina River Lodge which is located on a tributary of the River Gambia. The lodge is part of the Makasutu Forest where there is a rich variety of habitat, including mangroves and lowland forest, home to a wide range of bird species including kingfishers, bee-eaters, sunbirds, rollers, touracos, herons, and raptors. The photographs are a record of this holiday and demonstrate the exciting variety of species to be found."
