These photographs were taken at a number of locations in France including Locquirec in northern Brittany, St-Julien-l’Ars near Poitiers, Clairac in Lot et Garonne and in the Cevennes region. France is a great place for wildlife thanks to the traditional argricultural landscape which still survives. Many birds which are rare in the UK – for example, the Montagu’s Harrier and Golden Oriole – can been seen at a number of places throughout France. May and June are generally the best months to find gorgeous meadows full of orchids and many species of butterfly.
